"For every waking moment, there is a stygian dark which trails me. I am a story teller, and for that, there is no safe place for one whose mind is a nightmare factory."

What we look for at J. M. Heluk's WEIRD:

While I can appreciate a good vampire story, this is not the place to submit one, unless you have completely and utterly reworked the traditional  hum-drum bloodsucking tale into something the literary world has not yet seen. The same holds true with werewolf, ghost & zombie stories. I am searching for originality. No Erotica. No Intergalactic Space Operas. No flowery poetry. No Slasher. Period. Science fiction is welcome, however, it must be horror themed.; think of Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" or even the film, "Event Horizon."  Here's a hint...I love twist endings, too.

I am looking for well-written, previously unpublished original tales of Horror up to 3,500 words as well as flash fiction. Stories will be critiqued on originality, mood and character. Please edit your story. I cannot stress this enough. Anything with gross spelling or punctuation errors will be deleted. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, just inform me if you need your story removed from this web site. To submit a previously published story, the author must retain all rights and query first. You can submit as many stories as you like to me, as long as they've not been submitted elsewhere.

Please include your name, the story title, your e-mail address and word length at the top of the submission. If you'd like to include a bio you are welcome to as long as it's brief (about 60 words). Please copy and paste your story/bio into your e-mail. NO CRAZY FONTS. NEW TIMES ROMAN WILL DO. NO ATTACHMENTS.

It is our goal to publish one story per month online. There is no entrance fee. Chosen stories will be published on JMHeluk.com. The author shall retain all rights to their story. Winning stories will be showcased online for approx. 1 months time.

I will often fill the year early, plucking three or four entries at a time.

Please e-mail your submission to toocreepy4@comcast.net subject, WEIRD SUBMISSION.

Reading periods usually fall into three week cycles. If you've not heard from me AFTER three weeks, you may query as to the status of your submission.

Thank you and GOOD LUCK! I look forward to reading your work!

All my best,

J. M. Heluk
